Travel Information to Maine Sporting Camps and Lodges

Driving directions to Ashland, all camps:

 

Interstate 95 North to exit 264, (old exit 58) (Sherman)

Route 11 North to Ashland, cross bridge, (Aroostook River)

 

The camps request that you call from Ashland so they know when to expect you.  Your cell phone will most likely not work beyond Ashland.

 

All camps are in remote areas, it’s a good idea to gas up in Ashland and to purchase any last minute supplies. Road conditions may vary so a vehicle with some clearance is recommended. A good spare tire is always  recommended when traveling on gravel roads in northern Maine.

Libby Camps

Bradford Camps

Red River Camps

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To Libby Camps:

 

After crossing the Aroostook River in Ashland, turn left, go ¾ of a mile turn right, (road turns to gravel)

 

5 miles to North Maine Woods gate (You will be required by the North Maine Woods Association to pay a fee. The fee is $18.00 per person (resident), and $25.00 per person (non-resident). No charge for persons over 70 or under 16.)

 

Turn left at gate, (Pinkham Road) go 10 miles, cross Machias River, bare left, (Pinkham Road) go 15 miles cross Mooseleuk stream, go 10 miles cross Munsungan Stream, (mile marker 39 Pinkham Road) take next left, Oxbow Road

 

Go 7 + miles turn right at Libby sign, 2 miles to camp.

To Bradford Camps:

 

After crossing the Aroostook River in Ashland, turn left, go ¾ of a mile turn right (road turns to gravel)

To Red River Camps:

 

After crossing the Aroostook River in Ashland, turn right and continue on route 11, (approximately 10 miles) to Portage.

 

In Portage, turn left at Dean's Motel and travel approximately 1 mile.

 

Turn left on paper company road, (road changes to gravel) (Fish River Lake Road) continue to the North Maine Woods gate, (You will be required by the North Maine Woods Association to pay a fee. The fee is $18.00 per person (resident), and $25.00 per person (non-resident). No charge for persons over 70 or under 16.)

 

After leaving the gate, continue on the Fish River Lake Road, (2+ miles)

 

Turn right onto Hewes Brook Road, and follow the Red River Camps signs.

 

(Welcome to Red River Camps)

 

From Portage to the camps is approximately 27 miles. All turns are well marked with camp signs.
