Experienced Hunters

Hunting Special  Package # 1

Hunting in northern Maine’s wilderness has been a tradition for generations. This hunt is designed for the experienced hunter that feels comfortable and appreciates the true meaning of a Trophy Whitetail Hunt in the big woods. Nowhere in the eastern United States do you have a better opportunity of taking a trophy of a lifetime. Bucks weighing 200 plus pounds are not uncommon.

This hunt is not for everyone. We require that hunters have the ability to use a map and compass, must be in reasonably good physical condition, and because this is a true trophy hunt, hunters must be willing to pass up less than trophy animals.

We focus on the hunt and the friendships established by the pursuit of these trophy animals. This is a hunt not a shoot. Hard work and lady luck plays a major part in determining your success in bagging a trophy Whitetail buck. Our goal is to provide a truly memorable experience and the opportunity to pursue Maine’s trophy Whitetail deer.

The hunt takes place in an area around the headwaters of the Aroostook watershed. Part of the North Maine Woods; this area encompasses thousands of acres with terrain that includes hardwood ridges, regenerated cuts, cedar swamps, and softwood forests. Our preferred methods of hunting are tracking and still-hunting. The fourth week of Maine’s deer hunting season is recommended because of the usual availability of tracking snow, and in such a vast area this increases the odds of locating trophy bucks. In addition, the fourth week is normally the peak of the rut, or at least contains part of the rut.

This package is designed for four hunters with two guides. Your guides have over seventy years of hunting experience and forty years of guiding experience between them. Our equipment includes two FWD vehicles, a snow machine, six radios, 2 GPS's, and maps of the area. We will send print outs of maps to your home so that you can familiarize yourself with the areas we hunt. In addition to your normal hunting equipment, we suggest that you have two compasses, a daypack or fanny pack, and a thermos. Other items to consider, that are not required, are a GPS (strongly suggested), binoculars, and snowshoes. As an experienced hunter you should realize that your clothing is a very important part of any hunt. Northern Maine’s weather the fourth week of the hunting season is typically cold with snow. We recommend layering with wool as an outer layer or some similar quiet fabric. It goes without saying that consideration of your feet and hands is important as well. If you have any questions concerning your equipment or clothing requirements please feel free to contact us.

When booking this special hunt through Gary C’s Guiding, we make all of the arrangements and reservations with the sporting camps. The package includes home cooked meals, private log cabin with full bath facilities, and maid service. During the hunting season although not required, you should consider bringing your own sleeping bag.

The cost of this special hunt is $1350. / person plus tax and license fee. This price is based on four hunters and includes accommodations with three meals a day, two guides, and guides equipment for one week. (Special arrangements can be made for groups with more than 4 hunters.) Contact us. The hunt is six days, Monday through Saturday. [Maine has no Sunday hunting] Arrive on Sunday, depart on the following Sunday.

When we designed this package it was our intent to offer experienced hunters a professionally guided Trophy Whitetail Hunt that would keep them coming back season after season. If you are a dedicated hunting enthusiast, looking for a remote hunting experience in the North Maine Woods, we guarantee that our knowledge and experience of hunting northern Maine will make your trip enjoyable and memorable.
